Donnadolce planned and constructed a 5 MW polycrystalline photovoltaic plant in Sicily, Italy. It is one of the largest photovoltaic installations in Southern Italy. The plant was built and connected in a record time of three months, receiving bank financing in a challenging environment in the year 2011. Thanks to the excellent solar irradiation Sicily is one of the most attractive regions for photovoltaic power production and provides for over 1’600 full load hours per year. The company successfully sells the energy to the market and is also entitled to the Italian GSE feed-in tariff system. The plant supplies energy equivalent to the consumption of approximately 2’900 households reduces 8’740 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year and offers jobs to the local work force.
